Legal & Privacy

How Binding Docs handles your data, protects your documents, and complies with privacy regulations.

1

Is Binding Docs a law firm or professional advisory service?

No. Binding Docs is a document intelligence platform. It helps you organise, understand, and manage your documents by explaining what they say in plain English and flagging risks with Traffic Light scoring. It does not provide regulated advice. For complex matters such as court disputes or large property transactions, we recommend consulting a qualified professional.

2

Are documents created on Binding Docs valid and enforceable?

Yes. Documents created through Lewiz Chat and Smart Templates include all essential elements for enforceability: offer, acceptance, consideration, and mutual consent. They follow standard formatting and appropriate language. For documents that require witnessing, notarisation, or registration, Lewiz informs you of the additional steps needed in your jurisdiction.

3

Who owns the documents I create or upload to Binding Docs?

You do. Every document you create or upload remains your property. Binding Docs does not claim any ownership, licence, or usage rights over your content. You can export, download, share, or delete your documents at any time. Your files exist to serve you, and only you.

4

Does Binding Docs use my documents to train AI models?

No. Your documents are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI models. Lewiz processes your document in real time and retains nothing after the session ends. This is built into the architecture, not just a policy promise. No data is stored, shared, or reused after processing.

5

What personal data does Binding Docs collect?

Binding Docs collects only the minimum data necessary: your email address, name, and account preferences. Document content is encrypted and inaccessible to anyone, including the Binding Docs team. We do not collect browsing data, sell information to third parties, or share data with advertisers. Full details are available in our privacy policy.

6

Can Binding Docs be used as evidence in a dispute?

Documents stored in Binding Docs are your personal copies. They can support your position in a dispute by providing organised records, timestamps, and sharing history through Smart Links. However, Binding Docs does not certify or authenticate documents for court use. For formal disputes, consult a qualified professional about admissibility requirements.

7

What happens to shared Smart Links if I delete a document?

When you delete a document from your vault, all associated Smart Links become inactive immediately. Recipients can no longer view or access the shared content. Activity history for that link is also removed. If you need to preserve sharing records before deletion, export the document and its activity log first.

8

How does Binding Docs handle documents from different countries?

Binding Docs reads and analyses documents from any country. The AI understands standard contract structures and clauses used internationally. Document creation currently follows UK and common-law frameworks. For jurisdiction-specific requirements such as local witnessing rules or registration obligations, Lewiz flags what additional steps may be needed.

Getting Stated

Everything you need to know to start using Binding Docs, from creating your account to uploading your first document.

1

How do I upload my first document?

You have four ways to add documents: upload a file from your device (PDF, Word, or image), snap a photo of a printed document using your phone camera, connect your email to auto-import attachments, or link a cloud drive (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud). Binding Docs reads, categorises, and stores the document automatically.

How do I create an account on Binding Docs?

Creating an account takes less than 30 seconds.Visit bindingdocs.com and tap Get Started Free. Sign up with email and password, or use Google or Apple sign-in for one click registration. No creditcard required. After sign up, Lewiz guides you through a brief onboarding and helps you upload your first document.

3

What happens after I upload my first document?

Binding Docs reads the document instantly, categorises it (insurance, tenancy, employment, subscription, etc.), extracts key dates and payment terms, and scores every clause with Traffic Light analysis. If there are upcoming deadlines, Smart Reminders are set automatically. You see a full summary in plain English within seconds.

4

Can I use Binding Docs on my computer and phone at the same time?

Yes. Your vault syncs in real time across all devices. Upload a document on your phone and it appears on your laptop immediately. Receive a Smart Reminder on your phone and check the full document on your desktop. Available on iOS, Android, and any web browser.

5

Can I invite my partner or family member to use Binding Docs?

On the Pro plan, yes. Family vault lets you add family members with role-based permissions. You choose which documents each person can see. Your partner can access shared household documents like insurance and tenancy agreements without seeing your personal files. Access can be revoked at any time.

System

Technical requirements, supported devices, file formats, and troubleshooting common issues.

1

Who is Lewiz and what can it do?

Lewiz is Binding Docs’ AI legal assistant. Lewiz can create legal documents through natural conversation, review existing documents with Traffic Light risk scoring, explain legal terms in plain English, help you negotiate contract terms via Smart Links, suggest protective clauses based on your situation, track document deadlines with Smart Notifications, and assist with document organization in your Vault. Lewiz is designed to make legal documents accessible to everyone — no legal knowledge required.

2

How does Lewiz AI analysis work?

When you ask Lewiz to review a document, it performs a multi-layer analysis. First, it reads the entire document and identifies every clause. Then, it evaluates each clause against legal best practices and fairness standards. Each clause receives a Traffic Light score: Green (safe), Amber (review carefully), or Red (potential risk). Lewiz provides a plain-English explanation for each flagged clause, including what it means, why it was flagged, and what you should consider before agreeing.

3

Can Lewiz understand my documents in different languages?

Currently, Lewiz creates and reviews documents in English. The AI understands input in multiple languages and can communicate with you in Turkish and English. Document generation is in English with legal terminology appropriate for common-law and civil-law jurisdictions. Multi-language document creation (including full Turkish legal document generation) is on our roadmap. You can upload documents in other languages for basic review, but the analysis will be in English.

4

How accurate is Lewiz’s document review?

Lewiz’s document review is highly accurate for identifying common legal risks, unfair clauses, missing provisions, and standard contract issues. The Traffic Light system has been trained on thousands of legal documents and standard legal frameworks. However, Lewiz is an AI tool, not a licensed attorney. For high-stakes documents (large real estate transactions, complex business deals, litigation-related documents), we recommend having your Lewiz-reviewed document also reviewed by a qualified attorney.

5

Can I use voice to chat with Lewiz?

Yes. Lewiz supports voice input for document creation. Tap the microphone icon in the chat interface and speak your requirements naturally. Lewiz transcribes your speech and responds as if you had typed the message. This is especially useful when you’re on the go or prefer speaking over typing. Voice input works for all Lewiz Chat features: document creation, review requests, editing instructions, and general questions.

6

Can Lewiz read photos or scanned documents?

Yes. Lewiz includes built-in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities. Upload a photo of a printed document, a screenshot, or a scanned page, and Lewiz extracts the text automatically. This works for: photographed contracts, handwritten notes (with reasonable legibility), screenshots of digital documents, and scanned multi-page PDFs. After extraction, Lewiz can review the document with Traffic Light scoring, convert it to a professional format, or use it as a starting point for a new document.

7

What is Lewiz’s Smart Suggestions feature?

When you’re filling in a Smart Template or creating a document via Chat, Lewiz offers Smart Suggestions — AI-powered recommendations for typical values and terms based on the document type. For example: rental agreements receive suggested deposit amounts, notice periods, and maintenance clauses; freelance contracts receive suggested payment structures, revision limits, and IP transfer terms. Smart Suggestions are based on industry standards and legal best practices. You can accept, modify, or ignore any suggestion.

8

How does Lewiz help with contract negotiation?

When you share a document via Smart Link, the other party can comment on specific clauses and suggest changes. Lewiz analyzes their feedback and helps you in several ways: summarizes the other party’s requests in plain English, evaluates whether their proposed changes are reasonable, drafts counter-proposals that protect your interests, explains the implications of accepting or rejecting each change, and maintains a complete negotiation history. This turns document sharing into an interactive negotiation workspace.
